CRT Entity Resolution

Client: A financial institution with over $3 trillion in total assets

Challenge: Our client’s asset management team is responsible for tracking any modifications to loans or its underlying collateral. These changes legally need to be approved by the all the parties involved for each loan. Consent Request Tracker is a tool designed to manage and track these modification requests. Multiple data source integration from upstream applications and manual inputs has been a critical aspect of the process. However, the manual input from various users and parties over the years has created a challenge for our client’s reporting and data aggregation as entity names often change or are entered differently.

FI Solution: Leveraging AWS SageMaker, docker and graph, FI was able to implement a containerized entity resolution process to address inconsistencies across data sources and automate the identification and merging of matched entities.

This reduced business overhead, simplified reporting, and improved data quality.

FI Impact: The implementation of the entity resolution process within the three tables of importance in CRT identified over 1,000 duplicates in the sponsor table, over 500 duplicates in the property management table, and 47 duplicates in the DCH table. Running the entity resolution process each night automatically handles new names, ensuring that a similar point-in-time cleanup will be unnecessary in the future.
