FI Consulting Named a Silver Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists

Arlington County, VA, January, 16, 2020— Today, the League of American Bicyclists recognized FI Consulting with a Silver Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) award, earning it a place alongside 1,366 businesses across the country contributing to the movement to build a more Bicycle Friendly America.

By kicking off the New Year alongside 153 new and renewing BFBs, FI Consulting joins local businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies in all 50 states and Washington, DC, in a commitment to transform American workplaces to be more welcoming to customers and employees who bike.

“When places make it easier for people to choose to bike, they are building safer, stronger, and better connected communities. The League of American Bicyclists is thrilled when organizations like FI Consulting join us in this movement to build a more Bicycle Friendly America. When more people are biking to work or shop, life is better for everyone,” says Executive Director Bill Nesper of the League of American Bicyclists.

FI Consulting is dedicated to healthy lifestyles, giving back to the community, and reducing its carbon footprint. As such, we encourages our team members to use bikes as an easy and affordable form of transportation. FI provides amenities such as bike maintenance and safety accessories including patches for tires, helmets, and horns as well as onsite bicycle racks and showers. Other incentives to bike include subsidizing Capital Bikeshare and offering a health insurance plan that promotes wellness.

“Besides fitness and eco-friendly reasons, I like biking  to work because I feel more connected to the city,” said Grisha Tykhonovskyi, a consultant at FI Consulting. “Like breathing fresh air and enjoying the city nature (my commute lays through Rock Creek Park). I even recognize some people every morning because we are on the same schedule. Plus, I like to be in control of my commute. On the bike, you won’t get stuck in traffic or experience overcrowded public transportation during rush-hour. I’m also thankful to FI for making my bike commute so easy. For example, I’m able to bring my bike into the office with no questions asked. In addition, FI employees have access to showers which is a much needed necessity during hot summer days. FI management also made sure to provide us with books and information related to biking such as traffic laws and bike maintenance guides. I find it encouraging for people who are new to this type of commute but willing to try.”

Moving forward, FI Consulting will have access to a variety of free tools and technical assistance from the League to become even more bicycle-friendly. This award is a continuation of FI Consulting’s commitment to encouraging the use of sustainable transportation modes such as public transit, ridesharing, biking, and walking.
