FI’s Impact: Custom ADQM Solution for a Top 10 Bank

Recently, FI developed and implemented an in-house ADQM solution for a large (top 10 in the US in total assets) banking client. The client needed to ensure that data moving downstream from its central repository through a critical ETL pipeline was accurate, complete, and consistent.

FI developed a system that seamlessly integrated with the pipeline and evaluated data quality daily based on three classes of rules tailored to the client’s specific needs:

  1. Accuracy: Is the data correct? Are the values close to what we would expect? Does the data have the proper distribution?
  2. Completeness: Is all necessary information available and recorded, or is there missing data?
  3. Consistency: Does the data have the proper format? Is the data consistent with recent history?

The screenshots below illustrate some of our solution’s key features, including user-friendly dashboards, quality metric tracking over time, and granular views of specific datasets with several filtering options.

We designed the solution to produce an alert for any rule violation and direct the user to the specific value responsible for the violation. Additionally, we built a dashboard that assigned a rating (e.g., green, yellow, or red) to each data element, enabling easy visualization of the quality of the dataset. The solution expanded the client’s ability to rapidly identify and resolve data issues and swiftly elevated the quality of data flowing through the pipeline.

After implementation, the solution enhanced the client’s monitoring of thousands of data elements, many of them critical inputs to high-risk models. The client was immediately alerted to existing data quality issues and was able to quickly diagnose and remediate the problems. The client also obtained key performance indicators (KPIs) contributed to enhanced monitoring of data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. This raised confidence in model output that fed into sensitive regulatory reporting.
